Indicators/ Evidence
Analysis/ Interpretation
6.1 Demonstrates knowledge and confidence in subject matter and knowledge of Saskatchewan curriculum documents and applies these understanding to plan lessons, units of study and year plans using the Broad Areas of Learning and Cross-curricular Competencies.
09-10/11 - MS;s first ELA unit demonstrates this. It has also been noted in her computers unit. - CPM
09-10/11 - In her ELA unit MS copied each and every objective she used in it's entirety. We discussed how wen she actually applied the objective she might have only intended and actualized the use of part of it as stated - EX: The students will read, listen to, and view - turned into actually only reading. Because of this redundancy or wording and a desire to be eco-friendly we discussed fine tuning the objective by eliminating the portions she knew she wouldn't be using. - CPM
6.2 Plans instruction using the Adaptive Dimension and resource-based learning to address individual student needs and cultural diversity using a wide repertoire of instructional strategies and methods.
10/11 - Evidence of resource based teaching has been evidence in her first ELA unit as she is doing literature circles and needed to first learn how she wanted to run one through professional reading, study, and discussion. - CPM
10/11 - I have seen a lot of growth in this area. MS seemed quite cautious at first, but now tweaks and enhances her teaching and methods as she goes daily as new learning and evidence to success or struggle pops up with the kids. She may choose to do her next lit. circle completely differently or build on her methods here, but this is good evidence of her increased confidence with this methodology. - CPM
6.3 Incorporates First Nations, Inuit and Métis content and perspectives across all teaching areas.
6.4 Plans and develops engaging and authentic lessons that demonstrate knowledge and confidence in subject matter.
10/18/11 - Introductory lesson to my computers unit in advertising engaged my students and I was very confident in teaching the subject matter - MS
10/18/11 - In this lesson I engaged the students by using different brainstorming methods and by incorporating something they see every day into the lesson. I was confident in my explanations of what advertising is and where it can be found and different ways that is can be used (i.e. for profit or for charity). This lesson leads into the students planning their own business and allowed them to be creative and have discussed and brainstormed over 100 different businesses - MS
6.5 Incorporates available technology in pedagogically appropriate ways.
Aug - Now - I have been using the Wiki to keep my PGP's and intern data sheet in a location which is convenient for myself, my co-op, and my facilitator -MS . 10/13/11 - began to incorporate the smart board into my lessons in a small way
Aug - Now - By using the Wikispace on the internet, everyone has access to the information that they need rather than using a paper hardcopy which is more difficult to transfer around from person to person (this also saves trees) - MS . . 10/13/11 - I am trying to learn how to use the smart board in interactive ways with the students to make my lessons more engaging, and to not use the smart board as an over-qualifed white board
6.6 Establishes a classroom environment that supports learning and develops responsible learners.
6.7 Carries out professional responsibilities for student assessment and evaluation.
09/1-2 - assisted co-op in collecting data required for a more comprehensive understanding of students' abilities in ELA and math. - CPM
09/1-2 - I modeled how I take the raw data and use it to help create a "picture" of each students' interests and abilities, then I gave the next set of raw data to MS and she replicated the procedure admirably. This will be very helpful to both me this year, and to MS in her future classrooms. - CPM
6.8 Demonstrates capacity to take risks and make mistakes as part of professional growth and accepts constructive criticism in cooperative manner.
10/13/11 - CPM left me in charge to do a math challenge with the students but did not tell me what the challenge was - MS
10/13/11 - By having CPM not tell me what challenge to do, I had to create an effective game on the spot which would engage and challenge the students - I am happy to announce the game was successful and the students enjoyed it while practicing their math at the same time - MS
6.9 Reflects upon the goals and experience of professional practice, adapts teaching accordingly and demonstrates professionalism at all times.
09/--- - At the end of each day I reflect on the notes CPM makes on my lessons and what advice she gives to me verbally throughout the day
09/--- - It is important to me to learn from CPM as she has been teaching for many years now and has been a co-op many times. She is very knowledgeable and I need to learn as much as I can from her during this experience.
